Cette 93ème édition des Oscars s’annonce inédite. Reportée à plusieurs reprises, elle se fixe désormais dans la nuit du 25 au 26 avril 2021, et dévoile ce lundi ses nommés dans toutes ses catégories. Après une année 2020 marquée profondément par la crise sanitaire qui a balayé le monde et qui a intégralement secoué l’industrie cinématographique, cette cérémonie semble avoir pour objectif de montrer et sacrer aux yeux du monde les films que nous pourrons découvrir (avec un peu de chance) bientôt sur nos écrans. Bien que la majeure partie des œuvres citées ne soient diffusées outre-Atlantique que sur les principales plateformes de streaming (Netflix, Amazon ou encore Hulu), on espère qu’ils parviendront jusqu’à nos grands écrans français à la réouverture des salles. On retiendra de ces nominations les présences de Mank (10 nominations), Nomadland (récompensé aux Golden Globes, 6 nominations), Minari (6 nominations) et Sound of Metal (6 nominations également). A noter également que cette liste signe de nombreuses premières dans l’histoire des Oscars, puisque c’est la première fois que deux réalisatrices – Chloé Zhao et Emerald Fennell – sont simultanément présentes dans la catégorie Meilleure Réalisation, ou encore la présence de Steven Yeun dans les nommés au titre du Meilleur Acteur dans un rôle principal, première occurrence pour un comédien asio-américain dans cette catégorie. Qui succèdera au succès triomphal du Parasite de Bong Joon-Oh ?
